Yo my peoples Ray Vendetta and Greater Goods new album ‘Effortless‘ has just landed. That’s right undergrounders we’ve been hyping this album since London Underground first heard about it. This jont is a first of a trilogy of albums set to release from Ray Vendetta this year. Trust Ray Vendetta always brings the goods when it come to bars and wordplay. While a sick wordsmith from the Triple Darkness camp and also sick contributor to ill UK group OBBA SUPA. Ray is no slouch when it comes to dropping tight music. Check his previous projects: Who is Daddy Long Love, Guess whose coming to Dinner, Dirty Drama & Ray Vendetta- Dramatic Vendettas, Seven Swordz of Light. Plus countless features with groups around the UK. Dude is a serious veteran of the game and should not be slept on by anyone into hip hop and emcees who can run a mic effortlessly (pardon the pun).

Now even though this isn’t a Triple Darkness release I can tell you its mad quality and defo a must grab for ya collection. Those familiar to Ray Vendettas work ethic and prolific writing know that this is set to be another jewel dropped from the lab. Bumping this I would say Greater Goods beats are on a chill kick back vibe with matching lyrical diversions to set you free from ya troubles of the day. One to kick back and smoke one too or throw a drink back. If that’s your sort of thing. Even those on a sober tip just ready for some deep tunes… here your key to your escape from the mundane. Honestly I’m feeling this joint and I am glad to bring the news straight from the underground to you. ‘Effortless‘ has a sort of rainy day vibe to it. For example you ever listen to dope music in a car and it raining?  Ever have a time where  it seemed the rain fall, window wipers, and scattering pedestrians are moving in synchronicity with the tune your rocking. Thats is the atmosphere I get from this album.  A straight organic feel with no unnatural flavors. If ya get me. Truly ‘Effortless‘ is the proper title for this. Seriously effortless rhyming over soulful beats.

New Omerta album review ‘Knowledge Quest The Ugly Struggle’ volume 1

” I was reading a lot preparing to start an album. I wanted it to be my journey through life music and book.” Omerta

Sup my undergrounders!! Got some new heat out of the UK hip hop scene, for y’all to peep with your ear holes. Just got the advance copy of the new album Knowledge Quest ‘The Ugly Struggle’ volume 1 by Omerta. The album is the first part of a planned trilogy of albums from Omerta which will all be made available for free downloading. It has been heavily inspired by Omerta’s life journey and also off of the Robert Anton Wilson book series the ‘Cosmic Trigger Trilogy. If your new to Omerta here’s his story. He began in the battle scene but felt drained and never liked it. So he began doing shows and building up his reputation as an emcee for a bit. Until finally he decided to buckle down and focus on creating his album. Hes spent many year in studios. He soon discovered his deep love of performing shows and penning bars brought him great satisfaction. Once he shifted his focus on his album his creativity could be properly channeled. Here in Omerta‘s own words are what led up to Knowledge Quest ‘The Ugly Struggle’ volume 1

“The knowledge quest is my mate Joe Bruce’s concept. He fed me some documentaries and shit while I was reading a lot preparing to start an album. I wanted it to be my journey through life music and book. The album is the last 10 years of my life as well as a lot of ideas theory’s and shit that I pondered on. The line between reality and fantasy gets crossed a few times and some theory’s in there are flawed possibly. But that’s what I come across in my quest for knowledge! I will be doing another two albums and they will all be free downloads. Knowledge Quest ‘The Ugly Struggle’ volume 1 is called that because the struggle in this album was ugly and  still is ugly. It’s ain’t glamorous with a pretty ending but who’s life is when you’re broke.”

 

Album Review

  The album Knowledge Quest ‘The Ugly Struggle’ volume 1 immediately dives into a metaphysical vibe. With songs and skits which subject matter dives into many deep topics. From societies humanity being lost to scientific advancements in a ever quickening modern world. From the hierarchical governments covertly being manipulated by secret societies. Using sci-ops and false information to control the masses to create a fascist type regime. Somewhat invisible to the majority of society. From astral plane traveling to finding spiritiual knowledge of ourselves. These are some of the themes you will hear in this release. Knowledge Quest ‘The Ugly Struggle’ volume 1 takes the listener on a journey where the very spiritual essence of man struggles to find answers while trying to navigate in our quest for self improvement. Facing these pitfalls with just our wits to guide us on our path to achieve enlightenment in a world filled with darkness.

The tone of the verses are often quite melancholy and address these issues. In my opinion trying to challenge the audience to become aware of the imperceptible spiritual laws and entities around us. Whilst bettering our own path in life and changing the world surrounding us to realize such spiritual growth.  The beats on here are quite unique and coalesce nicely with the verses. This is not a typical boom bap style album. Its loaded with tribal drums, tinny piano, eerie vocal samples, dreary violin samples and thought provoking skits.

I enjoyed this album a lot but depending on the genre of hip hop your into, some may not like it or understand its real potential and genius. Its not for fans who are looking for pop sounding records or typical 90’s style boom bap based hip hop. For me this is what makes Knowledge Quest ‘The Ugly Struggle’ volume 1 album stand out amongst so many other releases. Its a thought provoking album filled with many talented emcees and producers. London Underground recommends that if your looking for some innovative music that challenges your intellect yet satisfies your ears at the same time. Look no further. So even though its been a minute since Iron Braydz released his last joint Holla @Braydz, I can tell you this new one is mad ill. May be his best album yet. Trust that is a strong endorsement. Iron Braydz whole discography is dope.

Artist Spotlight on K-Zorro

Yo peoples check it out. In my musical search for UK fire and excellence I stumbled on another dope artist named K-Zorro. K-Zorro is a producer, emcee and songwriter out of London. He has worked with many sick artists. Such as Ray Vendetta, Teslas Ghost, Flow Tecs, and many others. Hip Hop is melancholy, dope and fresh sounding. London Underground deffo recommends this artist. K Zorro is a Rapper/Producer/Songwriter hailing from North London. The son of a popular German 80s soul band singer, music has been coursing through his veins for as long as he can remember. He first started writing songs as a precocious 13 year old whilst at secondary school and soon realized that he had a talent for putting words together, as well as using the skills learned from his musical family. Whilst at school he also formed one sixth of the rap group ‘Legion of The North’ alongside Ray Vendetta , Bad Company (Triple Darkness) Ade Lawrence (co founder of Uk Overstood) and uk underground rapper VenomSpitter, and the collective battled their way through school, freestyling in the corridors of the school at lunchtimes against their peers. More recently, he has performed all over the world, from Germany, France, to Cuba and beyond, and has an energy that is seldom replicated, coupling water tight flows with witty clever and insightful rhymes.He has worked alongside budding artists such as Coke Zero frontman Aynzli Jones and Tinashe to name but a few, has opened for Just Blaze, and has had stars such as uk Hip Hop Legend Chester P (of TaskForce fame),Mercury nominee Lianne La Havas and even legendary Hip Hop Dj 279 singing his praises. K Zorro has the ability to have crowds eating out of his palm wherever he performs with his amazing live band. He has had music played on various major radio stations, including Choice FM (Capital xtra) and Kiss FM as well as others, and has recently been working alongside burgeoning independent label FKK Records.
