Wa gwan undergrounders. Been a minute since the last post. But trust it was well worth it. I Just got a nice banger from PhybaOptikz off of the Crate Divizion Label. With over 14 years experience in the game.PhybaOptikz started off in production and picked up the mic in the last 9 years and has been rhyming ever since. This time he comes fresh with the bars on ‘Tales of Danger EP‘ This 9 track ep is entirely produced a dope pair of ill producers: Vic Grimes and Giallo Point.
Conceptually as this album starts off it has a real James Bond esque 60’s spy film/crime saga vibe to it throughout. With lots of samples taken from films of that era woven seamlessly through out the beats. Production on this is filthy nice and takes the listener on a fantastic journey. Beats glide nicely over various different, twangy guitar and moody horns, as well as upbeat trumpets and grungy organs. Including tasty servings of various percussion instruments that add to the flavor of these tunes and blend the musical aura nicely through out track to track. The skits in this sonic outing seem to also seem to add to the grimy crime film saga sensation.
Rhymes seem on point in delivery and subject matter. Weaving tales of espionage, danger and conflict. Verses by PhybaOptikz seem to greatly add to the overall thesis of the album. This is a sick concept album laced with ill beats and thematic rhymes. While overall a short joint in duration ‘Tales of Danger EP‘ makes ups for this with quality tunes within each song. Bringing a well made nice ep to you for your listening pleasure. Try and keep yours eyes peeled to this blog for more info on heavy emcee PhybaOptikz , and ill producers Vic Grimes, and Giallo Point. Plus all your UK hip hop needs. Make sure you go over to Bandcamp and pick up your own copy ‘Tales of Danger EP’ from PhybaOptikz.

Yo underground hip hop lovers I’ve got a sick emcee/ radio host to tell you about. From the city that brought you such skilled hip hop greats as ‘The P Brothers, Cappo, Endemic, Joe Buhdha, Stylee Cee, Scorzayzee, and C-mone’. Straight out of this talented backdrop that is Nottingham, enters dope emcee Can B. If your new to Can B let me tell you hes no slouch and has been spitting since his school days. The 28 year old up and comer was one third of the group Ill Citizen which released some limited edition joints and also a notably phat digital album release called ‘Pandemic‘. Ill Citizen played many gigs from 2004 till now but the members have begun to go their own path working on solo projects.

Ok here we go into the new album ‘Don’t Sleep‘ This record just released and London Underground was fortunate to get to review this. First off this album has heavy production and an eclectic aura to the feel of it. Beats consist of everything off of the sonic spectrum. The listener can expect to hear many different production styles. From electronic Lo Fi, symphonic loops over crispy drums, reggae esque samples, creepy piano over eerie vocals and buzzing, upbeat uplifting pulsating sounds , Jazzy dance riddims, sick beat boxing(from Motormouf), Heavy bass with whining horns over heavy drums, grimy organs, a birdsong chopped and served nice, Spacey keyboards ect… These beats are all over the place. All having their own sound, yet seemingly blending effortlessly together. Meant to be played very loudly in your residential area. Check the production credits, features, and track list on this:
Can B comes out rhyming with fierceness and tenacity on ‘Don’t Sleep‘. He seems right at home rhyming over a diverse collection of of beats and differing tempos. He reps Notts nicely on ‘Bed of Nails‘ alongside the Grand Imperial Cappo. He excels dropping a introspective verses on ‘Rough‘ with TomG. ‘Don’t Sleep‘ comes in banging, unapologetic to fans of the same old same carbon copy kind of rap going about a lot these days. No cookie cutter verses or Kinko copied styles. His verses work well over the sonic varying styles of production. Very entertaining to the brain and ears alike. Even over beat box with Motormouf, Can B is right at home. ‘Don’t Sleep‘ is a nice grab for any head looking for some new heat. With new fire beats. In the years to come we can expect Can B to continue to improve on his musical journey as an artist. Plus continue to drop bangers. Nottingham is always big in the UK scene and Can B still finds a way to distinguish himself properly from amidst of this skilled pantheon of artists. Overall a nice release full of banging eclectic beats and a solid group of verses to take you on your journey. London Underground would recommends you pick up the free download to ‘Don’t Sleep‘ and enjoy the album.
